The Beverly Carter Foundation (BCF) is a completely independent not-for-profit foundation dedicated to the ideal that every agent goes home safe every day by providing scientifically based research, information, consulting, training, and support at little to no charge to every MLS, association, brokerage, and agent.
The Beverly Carter Foundation envisions multiple, national-scale programs to address the current state of safety in the real estate industry. At the heart of the all safety programs developed and delivered by the Beverly Carter Foundation is a grounding in research around behavioral science, predator profiling, and “real world” tools to prevent and deter crime.
The Foundation will work with industry and criminology experts to develop publications, videos, online training, and social media resources available for free from the Foundation’s website.
The Foundation will provide instructor-led training through online modalities at no cost to MLSs, associations, brokerages, and agents. Additionally, a meaningful certification for Instructor Trainers, Trainers, and students will be developed to expand the reach of these training resources as quickly as possible.
The Foundation will host Safety Seminars and Certification Events throughout the continental U.S. to engage MLSs, associations, brokers, and agents where they are. These half and full day seminars and certification events will provide the most effective way to engage face-to-face with the industry at large and promote agent safety beyond digital marketing efforts. The goal is to make these events count toward Continuing Education requirements.
The Foundation will work with Federal, State, and Local government officials to pass laws designed to improve the safety of the real estate industry. Many opportunities exist to expand protections of real estate agents, such as additional penalties for crimes against agents. But there also exist opportunities to reduce regulatory constraints that will improve various industries associated with real estate to work together to improve safety for all.
